Will i get sick from a 2 month old bag of once live sea shells?
bluemonk561 asked:
I went to the Phillpines in June, and collected seashells, only to find that they were alive. I put them in a cup, poured boiling water on them, and mixed in rubbing alcohol too. then i tried to let the ants eat the meat inside, so i put them on the ground. a day later, i collected them again and put them in a ziplock plastic bag (i didnt clean them again, so they had dirt all over them still in the bag). and put them in a box and closed it.
now its 2 months later, and i opened them up, put them in hot water, and rubbing alcohol, and boiled them. now im worried ill catch something from the potential bacteria growth it went though, if at all
did any bacteria grow from this? after all i did above? will i get a cold?

I collected many seashells when I went to Spain?
LostLoca asked:
…and I want an idea of how to creatively display them. Some ideas I already have are to create a collage, spell out EspaƱa with the shells, use them to border picture frames…etc. At my home, I already have cement board and cement glue; a couple of years ago I cut out a fish-shaped cement board and took seashells, seaglass, and rocks from Quebec and glued them onto the board. Any creative suggestions are welcomed!!

Any ideas for making seashells more sturdy (for making jewelry)?
jerseagrl asked:
* I’ve been working on some hand crafted jewlery designs that involves seashells collected from a local beach; mostly clam shells and “jingle shells” (anomiidae).
*Unfortunately, the jingle shells are extremely delicate, so much so that I have considered either not using them at all or crushing them and applying the resulting powder to beads to add a shiny finish.
*The clams appear to be usable. The only problem is that they are prone to chipping. It would be awesome if someone could recommend some sort of covering (lacquer???) that would make the shells stronger.
Thanks!

Anybody know anything about seashells?I have some collected in Hawaii during WWII?
Sunshine Girl asked:
I was told there is a market for such things. Anybody know anything about this? There is a variety of types; they are large. I’m sure I can identify the type, but just want to know if there really is any interest in these. How does one tell the age of a seashell? I’m so curious!! Tried a google search and must not be good at it because I came up with nothing which was helpful.

Help! Stinky sea shells?
Meagan asked:
I collected lots of lovely seashells at the sea shore, but they STINK! How can I get rid of the smell? I thought about bleaching them, but I’m afraid that would fade them.

I have a whole bunch of seashells that I collected from the beach and I can’t help but wonder what kind of animals used to live in them before they washed up. Can anyone tell me? Here are the pictures of them.
